SLO was really fun! It always is. It’s lovely seeing my dear friends (alas I wish you all could have been there). I’ve missed the beach so much living in the Bay. And the food! Oh the food, I ate far too much at Firestones and nearly passed out in Peet’s five minutes later. I always eat too much at Firestones. Their tri tip sandwich was a weekly staple in my college career and eating it again was like seeing a dear old friend.

And along with the old, I got to discover two new places- the recently opened SLO Pasty Co, which serves delicious savory pastys (basically a pie crust filled with meat and stuff, like a pie calzone/empanada) and Buona Tavola, which has been there for ages (but I never went because I rarely went out to fancier date-night places. Mostly a burrito and deli sandwich girl here). It’s interesting, being shown around a town I lived in for four years, by someone with a completely different perspective. There’s lots of new things in downtown that surprised me but didn’t faze him. SLO has changed a lot since I was there. As have I, I suppose.
